If I lived somewhere where it was 70 and sunny every day, I don’t think I would care about a performance oriented car (maybe even any car :/). My friend asked the other day, “how may miles ya got on the Grom?” “Just a touch under 3k”, I said with a grin. He laughed and commented that 3k was a fair amount of miles for one season on a real bike, let alone the Grom.

I just fucking love riding the thing, it’s like therapy. Kicking through the gears, feeling the transition of weight when shooting through back to back turns. I have to pay attention to so many things when I’m riding that I can’t think about anything else. It’s one of the few times during a day when I’m not burdened by constant worry. One of my yoga pals texted to see where I have been. I told her that I have been abusing the Grom to clear my head!

My commute (via motorcycle) is 10 miles of lightly traveled back roads where speed limits don’t breach 30 mph, which feels like a race track if you ride a Grom flat out through them lol. I want another bike, but I have managed two tickets on the Grom (1 speeding, 1 illegal pass). My other riding buddies are like, “You’re getting soo arrested if you ever get a bike that goes fast.” I’d like to think that I’m a little more controlled than that, but I’m probably wrong. In any case the next one is going to be a super moto of some variety.

I was never much interested in motorcycles until I got the Grom, but now I don’t think I could live without at least one. If you’ve ridden a bike, you already know. If you have not, you owe it to yourself to give it a try.

I live in arguably a MUCH more northern climate then you...

and you can wear and shirt and tie under a bike jacket.

I’m with you! I couldn’t give up motorcycling. Something so wonderful about the countryside whipping by. Being outside, not inside. Utterly fantastic. Haven’t been on a grom but I really want to. I find myself really wanting a less powerful bike for some reason. Maybe I’ll go check out a CL one.

Actually the speeding ticket was easier to get than the illegal pass lol. I was clocked at 59 in a 25, the cop pulled me over just to give me the business. Technically it was not a speeding ticket, he wrote me up for a no points violation which he dropped when I saw him again in court.

The pass was tough. There was a Jeep going around 25 in a 40 zone, and swerving all over cell phone style. So I decided to pass him. Well he didn’t like that and thus made it real difficult for me to get passed him so I was in the wrong lane for way longer than I intended. There was a cop sitting on the side of the road a ways up who saw the whole thing. Pulled me over and wrote me a ticket, which was also dropped when I went to court for it!

Def go craigslist if you want a Grom, they’re 2k all over the place. I paid double that for a new one when it was all said and done.

I’ve been browsing for them for the last couple of months. People are asking 4k in my area. It’s dumb. The dealership advertises 2600 sometimes!!! I just figured I could get one of the craigslist guys to let me test ride it to see if I want one at all.
